Opal Ecker DeRuvo is a nonbinary artist and printmaker living and working in Connecticut where they are currently persuing their MFA in the painting and printmaking at Yale. They graduated Cum Laude from Massachusetts College of Art where they were awarded a full presidential scholarship to study printmaking. They then took classes at the Academy of Realist Art Boston continuing their dedication to classical drawing and representational artwork. They have exhibited work in New York City, Boston, Berlin, and San Francisco, and have been awarded residencies in both Germany, Canada. Their work explores ideas about intimacy, gender, and the transfiguring appearance of love in our daily lives, while utilizing the devotional act of representational drawing and the craft of fine printing.
