Rachel Lachowicz (American, b. 1964 in San Francisco, CA) is a Los Angeles-based conceptual artist who rose to prominence in the 1990s for her feminist reinterpretations of predominantly male, modernist forms and traditions. An iconic example was a reprisal of one of Carl Andre’s floor-based grids rendered in two different shades of red lipstick. Her contributions to the feminist reappraisal of art history has landed her work in the collections of Los Angeles County Museum, MOCA Los Angeles, the Whitney Museum, and the MFA Boston among others
