Louis Abel-Truchet was a French painter and printmaker best known for his landscapes adn depictions of Parisian nightlife. He studied at the Académie Julian under Jean-Joseph Benjamin Constant and Jules Lefebvre. He was a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and was named a Knight in the Legion of Honor in 1911. He served in the French army in World War I and was wounded in action and died of his injuries in 1918, shortly before the end of the war.
