The French text beneath the image reads "Etablie devant la Villa Corsini et destinée à contre-battre les défenses du front de la Porte San-Pancrazio Construite et servie pa la 13eme Batterie du 3eme Régiment Capitaine Serrand. (Siège de Rome, 20 Juin 1849)."

This translates to "Established in front of the Villa Corsini and intended to counter the defenses of the front of the San-Pancrazio port. Built and served by the 13th Battery of the 3rd Regemnet. Captain SERRAND. (Siege of Rom, June 20 1849)."
