Laurie Simmons has engaged with non-human subjects frequently across the four decades of her distinguished career. This work is from a series of photographs of miniature scenes in which dolls present a critique of modern women’s roles in their myriad incarnations.

Ms. Simmons and her husband artist Carroll Dunham have had a home and studio in Cornwall, Connecticut since 2007.
